We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Assistant with general painting, decorating and handyman experience to join our team, providing a proactive, customer focused service across our organisation.

Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a key role in providing a comprehensive maintenance service to the main Hospice building and leased/owned buildings which form part of the estate, to ensure such buildings remains safe, functional, and welcoming for our patients, staff, and visitors. The Assistant will work as part of a team within the Facilities Department and to support and promote the provision of a reliable, high quality, flexible, proactive customer orientated service that will support St Luke’s in undertaking its core business. You will be responsible for carrying out repairs, general maintenance tasks, and supporting the upkeep of our buildings and grounds.

This is a part time post plus full participation in the facilities' ad hoc call outs. The post holder will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of painting and decorating with general building repairs and maintenance.
  • Carry out regular inspections of the facilities (including fire alarms, lighting systems, portable appliances, and water services) to identify and address any issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, keeping accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Carry out safety and basic maintenance checks on St Luke's vehicles.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Painting, decorating and general handyman/caretaking skills and experience.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly, approachable, professional manner.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Full Driving license is required for this role
