King Edward VI School are seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for maternity leave.
Your role:
You will have an essential role in the school, encouraging students with Special Educational Needs to become more independent learners. You will help these students overcome their barriers to learning, so that they can achieve their potential. You will undertake specified work with individuals or groups as directed by the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo’s.
You will also undertake a daily Lunchtime Supervisor duty. You will be responsible for a set area within the school, supervising our students and dealing with any issues as they arise. You will need to have clear and confident communication skills in supporting students to be safe and respectful during their lunchtime break.
Teamwork will be key and you will be expected to follow school policies at all times. Experience of working with children and young people is not essential, more a willingness to show an interest in them and their lunchtime activities will help create those positive relationships with our young people.
Your responsibilities:
You will work alongside teaching staff and be deployed in a range of classrooms, either working with individual students or supporting small groups. You will need to have a flexible style and approach, with the ability to build effective relationships with both students and teaching staff, accompanied by the ability to be proactive and use your initiative.
