Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant 

Academy: Outwood Primary Academy Woodlands

Start Date: 01/09/2026 

Salary (Actual Salary):  £14,031.34 - £15,140.56

Working Pattern: Wednesday - Friday 6 hours per day from 08:30 - 15:30

Responsibilities

This role involves working collaboratively with teachers, participating in all stages of the planning cycle, including developing resources and evaluating pupil progress. A primary responsibility is supervising and teaching whole classes during the short-term absence of the assigned teacher, within an agreed system of supervision. 

You will utilise strong behaviour management strategies to promote a purposeful learning environment, promote the inclusion of all pupils (including those with specific needs or EAL), and provide detailed verbal and written feedback to teachers and pupils on progress and lesson Qualifications and Exeffectiveness.

Qualifications

It is essential that candidates meet the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) standards or possess equivalent demonstrable experience or qualifications. Required experience includes working effectively with children of the relevant age in a learning environment, along with a strong working knowledge of implementing curriculum programmes and strategies. 
 

Key skills include effective communication, proficiency in standard ICT, the ability to organise, lead, and motivate a team, and the capacity to relate sympathetically to students and recognise potential child safeguarding issues.
