Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We are recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join our Hospice Care at Home (Overnight Service), Vale of East Riding of Yorkshire.
Hours: Part-time – up to 36 hours per week (various 9-hour night shifts, 10pm–7am)
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AfC) £25,272 + enhancements (pro rata)
Hourly Rate: £18.22 Saturday and weekday and £23.64 for Sunday and Bank Holiday between the hours of 8pm and 6am
Advert closes: 18 May 2026
Interview dates: TBC
Join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service supporting people with a life-limiting illness across the East Riding of Yorkshire, including Beverley, Bridlington, Hornsea, Goole, Withernsea and surrounding areas. As part of the Planned Service you will visit one patient per evening and provide compassionate, one-to-one care in patients homes, and offer practical and emotional support to families at a time when it matters most.
Within this rewarding role you’ll be working independently overnight, following each patient’s established care plan and using your initiative when needed. Duties will include personal care and hygiene support, monitoring symptoms, supporting with medicines in line with the care plan and local guidance, maintaining accurate records, and providing reassurance and emotional support to patients and those close to them. If you have experience in Palliative and end of life care and are confident working in the community or as a lone worker, we’d love to hear from you.
